BEGINS THE JOURNEY OF DIRECTING.

adulthood
what makes her an artist?
Going from a professional tennis player to a filmmaker isn't a natural career progression. It's what happens when you decide hitting balls is boring and a better use of your time is to hit creative burnout instead. My journey began at Symbiosis Institute of Media Studies, where I racked up internships at two NGOs, Viacom18, Dharma Productions, and as a photographer at Femina magazine. This convinced me, a young, naive kid, that I was ready for the real world. I was. I really was. hehe.
My first two gigs as an assistant director were so uninspiring I promptly switched to advertising. It was there I climbed the ladder from 3rd AD to Director's Assistant. That last role was the sweet spot—it gave me all the creative perks with none of the actual responsibility. After two years of coasting, I directed my first commercial, and my dog-mom journey began. It was a direct client gig, and it was so good, it made the original pitch look like a rough draft scrawled on a napkin. You know you're doing something right when your work is better than the inspiration.
I kept directing, and for a short time, worked as a B-unit director, because apparently, I enjoy masochism. Then, in a brilliant move that no sane person would make, I packed up my tiny furry dog and moved to Prague for a year. I got a diploma in cinematography at Prague Film School and discovered the experimental genre. Finally, a place where my weird ideas could be considered art. I made Dead Fish, my first short film, which got us 19th place in the Dedo Light competition. A triumph, I'm sure you'll agree.
I came back to India with a film diploma, a renewed sense of purpose, and a new job as the mother of 12 rescue cats and dogs. My love for furry creatures and my advertising skills caught the attention of a pet app startup, which hired me as a Creative Director. For two years, I had the pleasure of redesigning their entire marketing strategy, building teams from the ground up, and generally making them look good. Now that my job is done, I'm back to being a freelance filmmaker, mother of a small dog army, and a professional scriptwriter for my next big project. I've got a few screws loose, but now they're creatively arranged.
